At MIDCARDS, we are big fans of the art on MTG cards. So much so, a big feature of our Instagram content is matching the cards with nail art.


After each month we will gather together our matches in a blog post, with a short explanation of how we would use each card in a Commander deck.

Why use it in a Commander deck?


A 3/4 with flying.


An opportunity to exile a potential danger from a graveyard.


Use in decks with White.

Eerie Ultimatum


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A sorcery to return permanent cards from your graveyard to the battlefield.


Returning any number with different names gives a whole scope of options - just consider the order!


Use in recursion decks.

Arabella, Abandoned Doll


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A legendary artifact creature with a love for tiny creatures.


Not only dealing damage but also gaining life on attack - changing depending on how many power 2 or less creatures you have.


Use as a Commander or in weenie decks.

Snakeskin Veil


Why use it in a Commander deck?


An inexpensive instant to buff a creature and give hexproof until end of turn.


A useful way to provide spot protection when a creature is under threat.


Use in decks with Green.

Why use it in a Commander deck?


A frog that loves big creature spells!


Draw a card, gain a life and get a buff for casting creatures costing 4 mana or more.


Use Helga’s power as mana to get those hefty creatures out.


Use as a Commander in a deck with big creatures.

A useful creature with flying and haste.


This faerie dragon also gets a +1/+1 counter for each noncreature spell you cast.

Stop the exile by using the sacrifice ability.

A creature with help for lands.


Mill to return a land to the battlefield, a reduction to land ability costs and a buff for land creatures.


Use in landfall decks.

A creature to flash in for buff and damage protection for soldiers


Use to put +1/+1 counters on your other Soldiers and protect any that are attacking.
