At MIDCARDS, we are big fans of the art on MTG cards. So much so, a big feature of our Instagram content is matching the cards with nail art. After each month, we will gather together our matches in a blog post - with a short explanation of how we would use each card in a Commander deck.

Psychic Frog

Why use it in a Commander deck?

This feisty frog is definitely down to fight. Rewarding you with not only card draw, but beefing up in the process. You could even get this frog to fly!

Use in any deck with Blue/Black.

Flare of Cultivation

Why use it in a Commander deck?

This super sorcery has a handy alternative cost for finding up to two basic lands.

Use it in ramp or landfall decks using Green.

ree

Planar Genesis

Why use it in a Commander deck?

This instant gives you great draw options depending on your needs. A land to play tapped or something else in your hand...

Use in any deck with Blue/Green.

Kibo, Uktabi Prince

Why use it in a Commander deck?

This generous fellow has Bananas for everyone! But there is an ulterior motive to buff up the Apes and Monkeys on Kibos team.

This Kibo is banans B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Use as a Commander for a Monkey typal deck.

Might of the Meek

Why use it in a Commander deck?

A low cost for potential big rewards if you have a powerful creature needing trample. +1/+0 is possible too. And don't forget the lovely card draw!

Use it in decks with Red.

Fabled Passage

Why use it in a Commander deck?

A land that gives you options of basics is always useful in a multicoloured deck. Even better if you're a few turns in and have more than four lands already.

Use in any deck.

ree

Private Eye

Why use it in a Commander deck?

This handy Homunculus just loves Detectives. Not only providing +1/+1 to other Detectives, there is also a cheeky chance to make one unblockable.

Use in a Detective typal deck.

Befriending the Moths

Why use it in a Commander deck?

A solve for those decks lacking flying. With the first side of this Saga targeting your creature for two turns, something really powerful could go over the heads of those opponents without a flying blocker.

Afterwards, you get a 2/4 creature with flying. Lucky you!

Use it in decks with White.

ree

Null Elemental Blast

Why use it in a Commander deck?

It's always important to have removal. This low-cost Instant even gives two options. It really isn't a fan of multicoloured spells or permanents. Just make sure you have a colourless mana source.

Use in any deck.

Chatterfang, Squirrel General

Why use it in a Commander deck?

Creating extra tokens in the form of other Squirrels, Chatterfang just loves a big gang! Paying a Swamp to sacrifice those little squirrel friends gives a great way to remove any opponent's annoying creatures. Having forestwalk could also prove invaluable.

Use as a Squirrel Commander.

ree

Hazel's Nocturne

Why use it in a Commander deck?

A helpful Instant for retrieving creatures from your graveyard to hand - up to two! So you could opt for zero if you just want the second effect...Two life for you and your opponents lose two! Mwah ha ha!

Use it in decks with Black, particularly those making use of the graveyard or lifegain.
