At MIDCARDS, we are big fans of the art on MTG cards. So much so, a big feature of our Instagram content is matching the cards with nail art.


After each month we will gather together our matches in a blog post, with a short explanation of how we would use each card in a Commander deck.




Hemosymbic Mite


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A creature with the ability to buff another creature.


Increase this creature’s power to get potentially big hits. 


Use in decks with counters.





Squire's Lightblade


Why use it in a Commander deck?


An equipment to increase power by 1.


Cast strategically to get the benefit of the first strike ETB.


Use in equipment decks.






Chrome Companion


Why use it in a Commander deck?


An artifact creature for life gain.


Use the mana ability to prevent troublesome recursions.


Use in any deck.






Codecracker Hound


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A dog with a draw ETB ability.


Get extra value by casting for its warp cost.


Use in decks with Blue.







Parasitic Grasp


Why use it in a Commander deck?


An instant for damage and life gain.


Cast it for its cleave cost if a Human is not the target.


Use in life gain decks with Black.






Zookeeper Mechan


Why use it in a Commander deck?


An artifact creature with ramp.


Use to buff another creature later in the game.


Use in any deck with Red.






Commune with Beavers


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A sorcery for draw.


A cheap cost to reveal an artifact, creature or land from the top three.


Use in decks with Green.

An artifact for ramp and draw.


Use in any deck.









Mondrak, Glory Dominus


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A legendary creature to double token creation.


Use the mana ability for some extra protection.


Use in token decks.





Ancient Silver Dragon


Why use it in a Commander deck?


An 8/8 creature with flying.


Potential for a large amount of draw if combat damage gets through - made easier by the no maximum hand size.


Use in draw decks.





Mintstrosity


Why use it in a Commander deck?


A creature that leaves a food behind when it dies.
